Make the base banner
Use six wool blocks of the same color and one stick. In a crafting table, fill the top two rows with wool and put the stick in the bottom middle slot.

Start with a plain banner and a loom. Pick a design to see which dyes and patterns you need.
Craft a banner and add patterns with a loom
Open a loom
A loom is made from two string and two planks. Put your banner in its banner slot and your dye in the dye slot. Some patterns need their matching pattern item in the third slot.

Keep building on it
Select the required pattern and take the output banner. Put the banner you just made back into the loom for the next step. A base color is not a layer; this editor stops at six pattern layers.
Keep reusable pattern items; you can use them again with another dye. Can't see patterns that do not use a pattern item? Remove any pattern item from the third slot.

This editor is set up for Java Edition 1.21.11 and has ten patterns to try. The four authored gallery designs have scoped checks in that exact version. Other Java versions may work, but we have not tested them yet. Bedrock Edition on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, Windows, and mobile uses a different banner-making route and has not been tested here. Edited combinations and exact preview colors still need more testing. Commands, shields, and image uploads are not available.
